First, you need GWD (Google Web Designer) in order to edit the files you recieved. It is a free program from Google.
Once in GWD, go to: File > Open File and find the banner .html file you want to edit.
Special Notes: The outlines may often get in the way of selecting what you want in GWD. To make it easier, go to View > Outlines > Off .
At the bottom of the screen you can see the playing modes for the animation of your banner.
It is either in Quick Mode or Advanced Mode.
Switch to the one you find preferable.
To change the text in your templates, simply select the Text Tool from the right side toolbar (shortcut key T) and select the text you want to edit.
Note: If the text is not visible at first, move the Timeframe Slider (Advanced Mode) to the right until you see the text. Or move through the slides until you see the text, in Quick Mode .
Changing the font properties is very easy in GWD. Simply select the text ( see A.2. ), then using the toolbar at the top modify the text in any way you want.
You can also add a multitude of fonts from Google Web Fonts, with the F+ button.
Replacing an image is really easy in GWD.
First select the image you want to replace.
Then, looking on the left in the Properties tab (Scroll to bottom) look at the image source and find where it is and it's name (usually it's found like this "assets/image_name").
Finally, go into the assets folder and replace the image with the one you want.
Note:The new image must be the same name, type -jpg/png- and roughly the same dimensions.
Note: The new image will not show imediately in GWD after replacing it. However if you click on Preview , it should show up properly in the browser.
Of course, what is an ad banner if it does not link back to where you want it to.
This is achieved in 3 easy steps.
First, select the "link area" (it looks like this).
Then in the Events tab (right side tab area) double click the event (it looks like this)
A configuration window should appear, in which you should see something like this.
Simply replace the Metrics ID and URL with your own and click Save.
Congratulations, the ad now links back to the page you specified.
You should always save new changes to the templates in a new folder. To do that, go to File > Save As and save your files in a new EMPTY folder.
Publishing is also very easy in GWD. To publish your file, click on Publish (located in the toolbar above the timeframe), and select the option that suits your needs (locally, to Google Drive or to DoubleClick studio).
